Samsung Announces 1.4GHz Exynos 4 Quad: A Quad-Core Processor Destined To Power The “Next Galaxy Smartphone”

Completely out of the blue Samsung has officially outed its next generation system-on-a-chip (SoC). The Exynos 4 Quad is very much what it sounds like: an updated version of the previous dual-core Exynos chip with four cores instead of two. Each core will be clocked to 1.4GHz, much like the last generation, and it is still going to be based on ARM’s Cortex-A9 architecture.

Samsung would be moving to Cortex-A15 to more adequately compete with Snapdragon S4 and its Krait cores. Perhaps the 32nm manufacturing process, High-K Gate technology, dynamic voltage control, and advanced power management in the Exynos 4 Quad will make up for that.

Is This The Samsung Galaxy S III ?

While this is most definitely a real device, it’s possible that it could be something different than the GSIII altogether, though I honestly doubt that Samsung would pack this kind of hardware into anything other than its highest-end device

So, what do you think? He states in the video that the design itself could change, as “Samsung has used a fake outer shell designed to ensure the machine isn’t exposed until it is unveiled,” so we’ll have to see what the ‘real’ device will look like in a little less than two weeks. Speaking of, when Engadget asked Samsung for a comment, this is what they had to say:

Sprint Samsung Galaxy Nexus Pre-Order Inventory Already Sold Out

Three days ago, Sprint finally announced pre-order and availability details for its version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. It turns out that the demand was more than expected, as the Now Network is completely sold out of its pre-order inventory.

The device was announced to start hitting the shelves beginning on April 22. So, you might want to show up early if you plan on scoring this device on launch day.
