ViewSonic G-Tablet – TNT Lite v4.51 (Droidpirate Mods) (Honeycomb Framework)

TNT Lite v4.51 (DroidPirate Mods) G-Tablet

TNT Lite v4.51 with Droidpirate Mods because 4.40 was a little out dated and a too buggy. I guess the creator of TNT has officially retired the TNT Lite ROM. Which sucks because its the only that I actually prefer as well as 1000 other G-Tablet owners. So I decided to take it out of retirement and do a lot of modifications myself.

Most of the system/app on 4.40 was very out-dated such as the Market place, G-Mail, Google Maps, YouTube, Google Voice and a few others. However the interface of 4.40 was awesome we are still using most of the framework images/icons with a lot of Honeycomb style framework images/icons, animations. There is also 2 versions because I know a lot of users have been saying they are still using the stock recovery rather than Clock work.

# Updated a ton of out dated APK files
# Honeycomb framework images/icons (animations)
# Angry Birds, Angry Birds Rio auto installed
# Adam applications installed
# Stablest TNT version

There was a huge bug in v4.40 where the WiFi notification would hardly ever Connect, or seeing the “WiFi Error Message”. So I ported the older settings from TNTLite v.421 which was very stable. The Market should automatically install without having to do any custom update.zip or clearing cache/apps to get the Market installed. It has been confirmed too that users going from the stock (tap ‘n’ tap) for the first time to TNT v4.51-dp should also have the market place (still some applications still missing?) If not you will need to follow the same tutorial on getting the market installed by clicking here.

Installation:

** There are 2 types of flashable files for users who are running ClockWorkRecovery and users who are still using the Stock Recovery. Please make sure you know whats running on your device, if you start up your g-tablet by holding (volume +, then power) if your device boots into “ClockWorkRecoveryMod”, then you are in ClockWork, if you see a black & white message that says *Recovery Key Detected* then you are running the Stock Recovery. **

Stock/Standard Recovery:
Step 1. Download the File Below
Step 2. Once you have downloaded the file, you should notice that it is (nonclockwork451.zip) you need to extract this zip file. So you will have a “Recovery folder“, and a update.zip file. Both of these need to be placed on the root of the G-Tablets *INTERNAL* SD-Card.
Step 3. Completely power off your Gtab
Step 4. Before pressing the Power button, Press & Hold the Volume + (UP) and hold Power as well, you should see *Detected Recovery Key Pressed*.
Step 5. The ROM should now be installing itself onto your G-Tab

ClockWorkModRecovery Installation:
Step 1. Download the File Below
Step 2. Once you have downloaded the file, you should notice that it is (update.zip) you DO NOT need to extract this zip file. This file needs to be copied to your g-tablets *INTERNAL* SD-Card.
Step 3. Completely power off your Gtab
Step 4. Before pressing the Power button, Press & Hold the Volume + (UP) and hold Power as well, you should now see the ClockWork Recovery interface.
Step 5. IF you are coming from any other version of TNT Lite, then you should not need to wipe your data or cache. If you are running another ROM such as VeganTab or BL1.2 Honeycomb then you will need to wipe your cache.
Step 6. Choose “Install update.zip from SD-Card”
Step 7. Next Scroll Down to “Yes”, please note the volume – will take you down, volume + up, the home key acts as the (enter key), and the back arrow will allow you to go (back).
Step 8. The ROM should now be installing itself onto your G-Tab

ViewSonic G-Tablet – Return to Stock Tap ‘N Tap

I’ve been getting a few requests to place a flashable version of the Stock UI (user interface) of the stock Tap ‘N Tap ROM that comes preloaded on the ViewSonic G-Tablet. This is for users who are selling their GTab or returning their G-Tab and want it completely clean/wiped with the stock user interface installed.

When I first purchased my G-Tablet it was a very crappy looking interface and you couldn’t do much you had 5 screens that showed your “Weather, News, Stocks, Email, etc”. When I saw the updates that Tap ‘N Tap actually released for their GTab I was sort of impressed a little laggy but does the job you can actually get to the Android market place and all of the features that a tablet should have not sure why they didn’t release this at the launch. Anyways for everyone requesting this here you go; it’s a very simple and straight forward install.

Installing via APX/NVFlash:
Step 1. Download the file below
Step 2. Unzip the contents of the .zip file (make sure everything stays in the same directory)
Step 3. Connect your Gtablet via USB to your computer
Step 4. Completely power off your device, once turned off press and hold (volume – *minus*) and hold the power, you should see your screen flicker and you should your computer recognize a USB device.
Step 5. Run the .BAT file that you extracted earlier
Step 6. Sit back let the batch file complete, once rebooted you should now be running the stock UI of Tap ‘n’ Tap.

Installing via update.zip (ClockWorkRecovery):
Step 1. Place the tapntap update.zip file on the root of the SD card.
Step 2. Boot into the ClockworkMod Recovery.
Step 3. Once the device boots into the ClockworkMod Recovery, use the side volume buttons to move around, and either the power button or the trackball to select.
Step 4. Select the option to Wipe data/factory reset.
Step 5. Then select the option to Wipe cache partition.
Step 6. Select Install zip from sdcard.
Step 7. Select Choose zip from sdcard.
Step 8. Select the tapntap update.zip.

ViewSonic G-Tablet – TNT Lite v4.4.0 w/ DroidPirate Mods

Since this is the most stable version of TNTLite v4.4.0 – already installed no seperate flashing required. TNT has been one of my most favorite ROMs for the G-Tablet; I always expierment with other ROMs but some how I keep ending up back to TNT Lite.. Definitely one of the best in my opinon, i’ve been running the v4.2.1 of TNTLite and decided it was in need of change. I’ve noticed ton of users flashing the TNTLite v5.0.0 version and having a ton of problems I’ve also noticed the 5.0.0 version has been pulled over at XDA. So 4.4.0 is currently the most stable release of TnTLite.

Installation for Standard Recovery
Step 1. Extract the contents of the ZIP file to your computer
Step 2. Copy both the (update.zip and the recovery folder) to the root of your SDCard
Step 3. Power off the device competely
Step 4. Press and hold the power switch and the volume up (+) until you see a recovery screen. After the update is complete your G-Tablet will reboot. Usually when I reflash to a different ROM alot of the permissions get messed up; so you may need to preform a data wipe. Settings -> Security -> Factory Data Reset

ChangeLog since v4.2.1 (Whats installed)
- (4.4.0) Added clemsyn’s v7 kernel, to fix the sleep issue. Also “unfixed” the Camera to correct the mirroring issue.
- (4.3.2) Fixed issue with Flash 10.1 reversion by adding the 10.2 apk into the installation script.
- (4.3.1) Fixed the home and search buttons breaking after wiping the user data
- (4.3.0) Based off 3991 system.img (legacy kernel and bootloader, however), camera fixed, new Market, recovery command line toggle added, 3588 bootloader added
- (4.2.5) New Market (stars?), new Gmail. Also patched for this vulnerability — http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=977154
- (4.2.4) build.prop changes to fix recent Market issues (this came from several posts in XDA)
- (4.2.3) Driver update that improves Nenamark scores (40 fps or higher)
- (4.2.2) Added Google Maps 5.1 and the Maps flip fix (thanks jwischka, atakapa and Butch1326!)
- (4.2.1) Add Adam keyboard, Sniffer app (thanks gojimi!). Adds updated Nvidia drivers that correct tearing in the Settings app (thanks proengin!)
- (4.4.0) Droidpirate MODs -> All NotionINK applications optional (install), re-modified all framework files (theme related).

ROM – Ultimate Droid – Droid X RC Beta

Well I recently saw that Ultimate Droid was released for the Droid-X and if everyone out there is worth flashing to your device right now my answer would be No. I love the theme and all of the modifications for the device but there are just so many bugs.

Bugs I Experienced:
Rebooting - Rebooting your device I had to battery pull almost every time then the device would finally do a successful boot (was a very pain in the ass).
USB Mass Storage / Charging Through PC - IF you are like me and charge your device via your PC, Netbook, Laptop well UltimateDroid should have placed this in BOLD and RED on his website because this was the only thing that made me uninstall. Basically you have to power off your device, connect the USB to your device/PC and turn your device back on for the USB to work!
Modified Apps – Not sure why this was even on the ROM due to the fact if you try to install any of the modified apps it would delete the old app and was such a pain in the ass to find the stock applications.

Also do to the fact that the device wouldn’t boot properly it was such a pain in the ass to get into ClockWorkRecovery, actually I wasn’t even able to thank god I had a previous ROM on my SD-Card. I had to power off and boot into my other Recovery by holding Power+Home button.

I mean don’t get me wrong I am sure Ultimate Droid will get it together and the ROM will kick-ass. I’ve been a huge fan since the Droid-1 releases, so we will just have to wait and see I just would not install this yet until all the bugs have been worked out not sure why it was even released yet.

Installation:
This is a new style of install for me and the Droid community in general. The update.zip format will only remove those files necessary to install itself, if your phone is odexed, it will deodex it for you and install. It has a very small footprint because it is only installing what is necessary.

1) DO NOT WIPE YOU PHONE, DO NOT FORMAT THE SYSTEM.
2) in your app drawer have bootstrap recovery restart your phone in recovery.
3) Follow these steps exactly:
i. Select install zip from SD-Card
ii. Select choose zip from SD-Card
iii. Navigate to Tranquility.zip and press the camera button
iv. Restart phone
